The Name Game 

What we want to see is that your dog gets super excited and that they immediately respond when they hear their name! To do this, we add loads of value to the name by reinforcing every time your dog hears that special word!

Throw a piece of food out. Pick a piece of food that’s on the larger side that they can easily see. If you need to then you can animate the food to get their interest first, but usually throwing alone is good fun. We then wait for your dog to turn back to you to look for the next piece of food to be thrown. Just before they turn, say their name, you will become an expert at spotting that moment! When your dog comes back to you, then you can reward them for coming back. Super simple! 

Even if your dog knows their name it’s really important that we keep topping it up and making their name really exciting! You can use a different sound here if you wish, for example a whistle or another word. 

TOP TIP - It is vital that we never use our dog's name in a negative tone, as this will reduce their want to respond when you recall them!
