Engagement 

This is your dog’s ability to leave the environment and return focus to you no matter what is happening around you. They find joy in working and playing games with you and think you’re the best! This concept works best when combined with other concepts, such as Self Control and Disengagement. 

10/10 on engagement would be a dog that immediately looks at you every time you say their name with no hesitation regardless of the environment or distractions.

Focus 

This is your dog’s ability to stay committed to a task or hold their engagement with you. This can be handler focus (focus on you) or forward focus (focus ahead while still being able to think clear about the instruction you are providing). 

10/10 on focus would be a dog that can stay fulling engaged with you or the task at hand for an hours training session.
